One-on-one tutoring

Design software and landscape architecture tutoring

Patient, practical help with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Rhino, Grasshopper, ArcGIS Pro, and core landscape architecture skills, from a licensed landscape architect who uses these tools on real projects. Online anywhere in the U.S., or in person in the Triangle.

Who it's for

Students, designers, and small teams

  • Design students in landscape architecture, architecture, planning, and engineering who want to stop fighting the software and focus on the design.
  • Early-career designers who were handed a Civil 3D or AutoCAD project and need to get up to speed quickly.
  • Experienced professionals moving into a new tool, like hand-graders going digital or AutoCAD users learning Civil 3D or Rhino.
  • Small firms and teams that want better standards, templates, and workflows without hiring a full-time CAD manager.
Why work with me

A practitioner who explains things clearly

  • Presented Civil 3D workflows for landscape architects at NCASLA SERC 2026.
  • Uses these tools on built landscape projects through Deconstruct Terrain.

FAQ

Common questions

Who do you tutor?

Mostly landscape architecture and design students (BLA, MLA, architecture, planning, engineering) and working professionals who need to learn a tool quickly. That includes designers switching firms or software, and small firms training new staff.

Do you tutor online or in person?

Both. Online sessions run over Zoom with screen sharing, so we can work directly in your files from anywhere in the U.S. In-person sessions around Durham, Raleigh, Chapel Hill, and RTP are arranged by message, so get in touch to set one up.

Will you do my studio assignment for me?

No. I'll help you learn the software, the techniques, and the reasoning behind them so you can do the work yourself, and do it faster next time. The design decisions stay yours.

What should I bring to a session?

The file or project you're working on, the version of the software you're using, and a short note on what you're stuck on or want to learn. If you're starting from zero, just say so and we'll set up a practice file together.

Do I need my own software license?

Yes, you'll need the software installed. Students can usually get free educational licenses for Autodesk products, Rhino offers an evaluation period, and ArcGIS Pro is usually available through your university or employer.

Can you train a group or a whole office?

Yes. For a team, a short workshop or a few group sessions built around your office's templates and project types usually works better than one-on-one time. Send me a message with the size of the group and what you want to cover.

How much does tutoring cost?

$80 per hour, and you're only billed for the time you use. Sessions are booked in windows of up to 90 minutes. If you need a longer block, email me.

Can I get a recording of the session?

Yes. Recordings are optional, and I'll send yours after the session so you can rewatch the steps.

Have a deadline coming up?

Tell me what you're working on and when it's due. We'll figure out the fastest way to get you there.
